Preparation Time

Before we celebrate
let’s pause and wait
to contemplate
and meditate
what we intend to celebrate.
Don’t be precipitate
take time to prepare
gifts and praise –
(not pressurised in gifting),
nor attempts at lifting
mood by frittering the days
in merriment trivial
thoughtlessly convival
fake as glitter
faded, jaded
wilting to bitter:
too much
too soon
is no celebration
just exhaustion!
[IP: too soon]
