Fingers type, slower than they once did.

Time gnarls knuckles, not manual work,

not since my father’s day.

 

Coffee cools, too hot to sip and then

undrinkable in the blink of an eye

or in a daydream’s scene.

 

Zooming out, sunny outside window,

unthinkable just a fortnight ago

or even yesterday.

 

Cold Open

 

Starring The Writer as Aggie Nist,

Time plays Sidekick, Death - female lead,

the soundtrack is funereal.

I guess we can only wait for the absurdities of life to make us laugh, between the injustices, the iniquities and the indefensible behaviour of some in high office.
