Climbing up from Minton

Rolling Shropshire hills
‘little Switzerland’:
humps and valleys
with Caer Caradoc standing sentinel
on the east;
Stiff climb up, but wonderful
views all the way.
Gorse in flower (of course)
but heather carpets still dead and dry
and last year’s gingered bracken.
See a glider take off from the
club over further west;
top a ridge and glimpse the gliders parked
waiting in their field.
What views they must see soaring,
but we see wonders here!

How wonderful to have this
How wonderful to have this fantastic scene close enough to walk, really spectacular photos and your poem describes well the wild beauty that makes this climb so special.
Beautifully done Rhiannon.
Jenny.

I wish I could see your
I wish I could see your photos bigger! The are GORGEOUS!!! It sounds in this poem like you must be on the mend? I hope so. Your line breaks in the first half sound like the breath of someone climbing a steep hill :0) And "here!" at the end, seems gateway to the panorama

Wow - "little Switzerland".
Wow - "little Switzerland". That statement itself conjurs images of rolling hills and vales. Visual and joyous. Paul :)

'gingered bracken' - I love
'gingered bracken' - I love this description and the photographs are beautiful. The way you've included a glider, it adds another dimension and forces you to imagine the view from above as well as at ground level. The whole thing is very evocative and stimulating.
