Alfred N.Muggins’ Response To Words Of Wisdom From Tolkien!

JRR Tolkien’s Words :-

“The World is indeed full of peril and in it there are many dark places.

But still there is much that is fair.

And though in all lands, love is now mingled with grief,

It still grows, perhaps the greater.”

 

Alfred’s Comment :- The Dark Lord eventually returns, unfortunately in a new guise! He has been quietly building his reserves and his military for many years, waiting to restore the Dark Empire, using his slaves to kill his opponents wherever he finds them! His name is Vladimir, Adolf, Joseph, Napoleon, but inside he is Sauron, and his eye seems to see everything!!

Alfred saw this quotation from J.R.R.Tolkien on Facebook soon after Putinpot's unprovoked Invasion of Ukraine, and, being a convinced fan of his work, responded with a few words of his own about the Dark Lord's recent activities on our Earth! (Call it fan fiction if you like!)

Tolkiein knew his stuff and was a worldbuilder.

Thanks for commenting Celticman. As you say Tolkien certainly did know his stuff. I definitely read 'Lord Of The Rings' at least three times! I liked his worldbuilding very much and have sought to do the same, in a sense, in my writings. Those words of his are very well written, so that although all may seem lost and the enemy seems to have all the cards, we should not give up hope. All that is fair cannot be completely destroyed, and may well win in the end! This is also the whole point of 'Lord of the Rings'. Resistance and eventual victory will come from the ordinary folks, from where the powerful least expect it, from the heart of the people, and through suffering and duty!

Plutinpot is now Sauron aka Putinpot aka Putin. Alfred may be right..

The parallels are indeed strong! Indeed Sauron always reminds Alfred of Stalin. A darker and more evil lord can surely not be found in all of history!

I've read his books enjoyed them a lot Tolkien was definitely a brilliant writer. Incredibly original. Some people said the Lord of the Rings was an allegory of WW2. I don't know I can't see it.

And are you taking also of Darth Vader the Star Wars movies? The Empire and that?

Hi Tom, thanks for reading and commenting. I do see Lord of the Rings as an allegory of WW2, and even of other Invasions of Russia and Ukraine. Many but not all wars have some kind of Dark Lord behind them. In WW2 Hitler was very much a Dark Lord, using people and nations for his own crazy purpose. We could say that of Stalin in a different way. 

One interesting aspect of Lord of the Rings is how Saruman the Wise, supposed to be a good wizard, is corrupted by Sauron's Power and influence, and then seeks to emulate him, becoming a breeder of Orcs, raising large armies, entering the arms race, and becoming a rival to Sauron as well as to the 'good' Kingdoms and the Elves. It all reminds me very much of totalitarian Nazis, Fascists, and Communists all borrowing each others' methods and trying to carve their empires out of Europe, and beyond.

The Star Wars and Darth Vader stories do also tell relevant tales of Democracy against the autocratic Empire. Actually I did a short piece about Putin using the partial title 'Empire Strikes Back', which is one of the Putin pieces which are still due to be posted to abctales soon! I put it on Facebook a while ago but have yet to put it on abctales, which I must do very soon!
