high seas

leaf shoals race on grey twig currents
as west winds lace rushing rip tides through
fast colours, with quick air
rinse out sluggish thoughts
so free, mind rides sun-touched
beech trees at this woods' last bastion
before moors' sky-bared sloughs and hills
where shadow fate's cast by white clouds
on glint-dancing reeds

Another lovely intense little
Another lovely intense little poem, feeling the rushing wind brushing your face! My father loved standing on the promenade in West Wales in a gale saying it was 'blowing the cobwebs from his head' after so much deskwork in London! I loved the glint-dancing reeds too.
Is that your own website for your own photos. I love taking closeups of lichen, moss, dead leaves etc on the grourd. Capturing them in a frame like that.

'glint dancing reeds' - some
'glint dancing reeds' - some wonderful imagery in this Di. you have actually made me wish for a wonderful blowy day (even though I'm resisting Autumn with all my heart) I think prancing is meant in a good way. Well deserved cherry!

What a captivating scene for
What a captivating scene for the season you've described in this poem Di. It was so refreshing to read. It certainly rinsed out any sluggish thoughts I've had, and now I'm desperate to get out and feel the wind on my face.
Thank you for sharing.
Jenny.
P.S. I love your nature photos, they're very special. Funnily enough I've been taking photos while out on walks in the woods with my camera, but have no idea how to upload onto computer. Will have to wait for my son to visit, hopefully he'll be able to do it for me.

I found this gem today and
I found this gem today and loved it. Your vision of these sentinels of nature is so well defined. I read Jenny's comments and agree with her; I too hope the wooded area you visit can beprotected and saved.
Your poem is lovely and well desering of the POD.

A beautiful and rich tribute
A beautiful and rich tribute to the first days of autumn. I really enjoyed the comparison with the sea, it's so clever, the rolling movement of the leaves and twigs in the wind is indeed like a shoal of fish. It's not quite fresh enough yet to rinse away my own sluggish thoughts. Here's to cooler days and thank you for this wonderful poem.
