Would I Be A Tree

Would I be a tree under
December moon that's
Delicately illuminating
Night, casting shadows
As clouds from north
Float on by until they
Wear themselves out;
Naked limbs so young
Patrolling all that spills
For miles, while roots
Snake beneath cold
Earth.
Capturing impressions
Never fathomed; for
Standing here stoical
Through many seasons,
Being tickled by insects;
Feeling icy breeze upon
My bark.
It's not madness to get
Messages extending;
Streaming down banks,
Sometimes vibrating...
Pulses touching nerves;
Telling me of others like
Myself in woodland
Hollows.

This is some lovely
This is some lovely imaginations! Especially like the 'tickling by insects', connecting the dreamy imaginations with very down-to-earth feelings! It reminded my of the fungal 'wood-wide-web' (WWW!) that seems to connect the trees of the wood, but I don't suppose all interact with it symbiotically. Rhiannon

I'm not sure I'd be a tree,
I'm not sure I'd be a tree, Jenny. I'd be too hollow.
