Pleasing blossom

lighting up grey sky,

petals pirouette like

flakes of snow to

sound of April

showers and gusty

wind that blows,

 

they kiss the grass

and yellow daffodils,

blooms already fading;

pink drifting here and

there on swirling breezes,

resembling floating confetti

at a bride and grooms wedding.

Thank you so much for your kind words Paul. The poem came to me while out feeding the birds, the blossom was flying everywhere and felt like snow flakes flying in my face.

Is that your photo, Jenny? I so like the comment that the blossom lightens up the grey sky (which we are getting so much at present, in between some lovely sunshine!). That blossom is so lovely both on the trees and when falling as snowflakes or confetti - sometimes a whole avenue of it!

Hi Rhiannon,

yes the photo is my own. I always feed the birds just under the blossom tree, then I get a good look from our kitchen window. It's such a pleasure to observe the beauty of nature, even when the sky is grey. The photo is off my son's phone camera.

It's generous of you to say the poem is striking. It was a pleasure to write.

Hi Jack, yes they do kiss the grass, they were also flying in my face when I was feeding the birds, it was like a blizzard.

Good morning Di,

you know I just love that word 'Fresh', it always makes me feel so cool and alive. I just love this windy weather, it's so great for walking in, feeling the cold breeze on my face, while I'm wrapped up nice and warm.

What are the purple blossoms in your photo Jenny? Pretoria is known as the Jacaranda City. Every road is lined with jacarandas their flowers are purple the whole city is purple in October, also called thus the october month city, especially if you look down from high ground or tall buildings. The whole place is purple it's beautiful. Well that's far off still!

Hi Nolan,

I don't know the name of the tree, I just call it the blossom tree. Your purple colours sound wonderful, but the blossom in the photo is a lighter shade of pink, it does attract many flying insects to the pollen, especially the humming bees, which I find so hypnotizing.

Purple rain, the belief was that if a flower falls on your head you will do well in your final exams. Probably would have worked better if you studied instead of standing underneath a Jacaranda tree all day. Apart from that the purple flowers stain your car tough stains.

Hi Tom,

Going by your comment, I wonder if the throwing of confetti is supposed to bring the bride and groom good luck! It's certainly like being at a wedding in our garden when Spring comes around again.

Thankfully our car is at the front of the house and there are no blossom trees around.
