Joy Of Connecting To The Land

Leaning on rake I stand
motionless, mind adrift
on thoughts of meadow
grass and flowers;
observing half
hidden robin unclasp
writhing worm among
knotted branches,
steadfast gardeners friend
approaches wheelbarrow;
while I with cool serenity
aware of watchful eyes
gazing under pallid sky,
emotions sparkle in this
little birds eyes, no words
are needed; just a murmur
between heartbeats,
and when pearly drops of
rain begin bouncing off
each leaf creating gesture
like a slow smooch on the
breeze, then freshness will
once more blossom.
Buds appear embroidered,
a delight to butterflies and
bees. Ivy pervading very
old fence; where spiders
in late summer generate
gossamer...those miracles
so intricately perfected.
Where forget-me-nots;
dandilions and primroses
stand watch over insects,
as they wake from winter
slumber, their drowsy
spirits now alert to the
warmer air...and joy
connected to this land.

Some wonderful images conjured, Jenny. Enjoyed your bucolic reveries, of course. Paul :)

'emotions sparkle in this
'emotions sparkle in this little birds eyes', I recognise that Jenny. Those little robins really do sparkle with intelligence and are so active, seemingly all year round. Ivy provides a great cover for insects and spiders whcih in turn feed our birds of course. You've painted such a rich image of nature alongside humanity.

yes, it's easier to get joy from nature when it's warmer, jenny, but you capture the spirit too.

Hi Jenny
Hi Jenny
This is lovely. Your word choice as always is fresh and appropriate. I like the dandelions looking out for the insects.

I really like how all your observations unfold from "leaning on rake I stand", I could imagine you looking round, seeing your bright eyed robin "unclasp writhing worm among knotted branches" and "Buds appear embroidered". Thankyou for posting this meadow update :0)

Hi Jenny
Hi Jenny
Nature is so lovely this time of year. I just took the first half mile walk that I have had recently and tried to take in all the new flowers and leaves on trees.
