When All I Need Is Artistry

It was the pulse of life

beating that encouraged

my love to write, then

within a language unfurls

where those passions are

understood;

 

so then I retreat...those

gifts to harmonize, swift

pen gliding by day and night;

desiring to fulfill this appetite.

 

When shower of words

like cloudburst descends,

I breathe in freshness of

each downpour; and

poetry rains in torrents, to

achieve ways of expressing

emotions.

 

I'm not a philosopher,

just a dreamer who

survives in shadows

that encounter imaginings;

to be nourished by glorious

afterglow, diversion from

lunacy of materialistic reality

that creates many cravings,

when all I need is artistry.

Beautifully put but I think you are so much more than that, Jenny. A poem that eloquently underlines your love of writing and artfully depicts how many others feel. Paul :)

This is great Jenny.

I too, often find myself in a 'shower of words like cloudburst', refreshsing me after a creative drought.

And the whole of the last verse is me. It's as if I wrote it myself... except I wouldn't have written it anywhere near as well as you have done.

Perfectly descriptive of feelings that only those who write regularly could ever experience.

I couldn't agree more with writing as a retreat and a way to harmonise, a release as in a cloud burst, only when you've got that flow though. We are so lucky to be able to express ourselves in words and understand each other albeit with many different interpretations. Lovely peice Jenny.

It's very satisfying to be able to encapsulate thoughts succinctly, and have them recorded for one's own memory — and then maybe others enjoy too! Rhiannon

That's exactly my feelings Rhainnon. Capturing my thoughts before they disappear...which can all too easily happen. The amount of times I've had an idea for a poem in the middle of the night, but been too tired to get up and write it down, is too numorous to mention, then by the morning it's gone.I suspect many other writers go through the same experience.
