Stormy Weather

In my younger days
it wasn't the norm
for a planet to be hit
by storm after storm.
In years gone by
it was a tradition
for seasons to do
a smooth transition
from winter to spring,
from summer to fall
with, when it rained,
an occasional squall.
We know that rain
is good for the garden
but if the sun's too hot
the soil might harden.
As climate change
nowadays prevails,
we have many more
hurricanes and gales.
Heavy rain causes
lot of places to flood;
roads can be slippery
with watery mud.
Concerned people who
had a strong conviction,
said that the earth was
doomed to extinction.
The clarion call was
resonant but unheeded
so it may be too late
to do what is needed.

Mind you I'm not sure how
Mind you I'm not sure how well my memory works concerning weather of my youth (were you in England?) And I don't think storms were given names then? Rhiannon

Well said (and rhymed to boot
Well said (and rhymed to boot!) Luigi
I think the naming of storms is only in the last few years Rhiannon. The meteorologists seem to be enjoying it!
