And The Fingers Point

Finally Punch arrives on stage,
dragged into the inquest
on the corpses
tallied on his record
in the thousands.

And the fingers point

At the culprits,
at the figures,
at the facts,
at the science,
at ourselves…

For we enabled Mr Punch
and his glove-puppets
- soon to be peers -
by allowing them to win
a majority.

And the fingers point,

in remonstration,
in indignation,
in disgust,
in righteousness,
in vain.

I haven't followed the Covid inquiry that closely. I know Bojo was there 3 hours before he was due up and with solicitors in tow. I thought the point of the whole thing was to learn lessons to avoid the same mistakes being made in future rather than being a trial, as such. 

 

A vitriolic piece of poetry from Ewan is always a worthy read. Enjoyed. Paul

It is indeed something like a pantomime. I wish I had the energy to follow it but I'm so over it all. Your punchy poem paints a timeless picture, no doubt repeated throughout the history of parliament.

Oh my word, this is as hilarious as it is terrifying.

 brief stay in West Didsbury, Manchester, we had a parcel delivered to our flat (bear with me - it gets better), which was intended for the last tenant but one. It had come from Australia. So, like good investigators, we googlificated the name of the addressee. A not massively uncommon Irish name and surname. We found someone on FB who still lived in Manchester. We messaged her and she said her aunt in Aus had been phoning asking if her parcel had arrived yet.

She came round the next day to pick it up. The ID she showed was for the BBC at Salford. It all checked out. Anyway, we invited her in for a "cup o'tay". It turned out she was a production assistant at BBC Breakfast. She told us about Boris. When he arrived for an interview the hair was Werewolves of London - i.e. PERFECT. Just before the green light he messed his hair up!

So, you see why I find the article highly credible.

P.S.......Maybe Hair Wolf BJ should do a little lounge time @ Mara-Largo wit hiz brotha from anotha motha... allot of finger point'n there too, but at least he'd get paid for it + free drinks by the pool.
