Yellow Blooms Of Late May

My eyes are windows to the
world, focused on charms of
each sweet day;
in such a place that's so alive
with sweeping acres of green
and yellow display.
Smoky billows may send
light rain to fall upon
rapeseed blooms:
insects will scatter...well
those that can; inspired
by breathtaking charms.
In folds of air birds will sing
and honey bees will rejoice
the flowers of late spring.

It looks so pretty doesn't it
It looks so pretty doesn't it? Unfortunately I always have to hold my breath when driving past as I have the most horrific allergy to rape. Thank you for this lovely poem Jenny

You paint an attractive and interesting picture with your words. Personally I'm not enamoured by the vast swathes of rape, which seem to change the traaditionaly scenery into something more continental, but i can see the brightness is enjoyable for many. I can't smell it very much, but my husband always comments on how strong the smell is. Rhiannon

Lyrical, almost ecstatic!
Lyrical, almost ecstatic! You trancend yourself losing yourself into the beauty of the scenery.

Fields of rapeseed in flower
Fields of rapeseed in flower always look utterly beautiful.
My in-laws' house in Lincolnshire was often surrounded by acres of it and we decided that it didn't smell very nice and the small black insects that it attracted were also attracted to my young kids' colourful clothing which caused untold chaotic screeching.
I also think it could be better named. In Bulgaria it's called rapitsa and in France it's colza.
However, from a distance, I agree it is magnificent to look at.

Slanchogled
In late June and early July we're surrounded by massive fields of sunflowers in bloom. I'll send you some photographs when the time comes. Bulgarians call them slanchogled which means 'view of the sun'. There's a village in the south of the country that has the same name.
