Dirge for another year gone by

What do I do
of these penny pastiches
limp and coddled and shy
from the wise seeds
of wit and wonder
grow these superflous weeds
that stutter and flutter awry.
Yes, I have harbored
arduous passions --
untempered and too keen --
in want of a dalliance
of rather noble valiance
that makes society
weep, laugh and be seen.
In my long addled hours
filled with coffee spoons and desires
iridescent butterflies
appear sometimes on the window sill
against blue skies
and the miniature skyscrapers
and flap furtive wings in askance still.
So, what do I do
of these penny pastiches
that flutter and stutter awry
Heart says :
There's still time, there's still time
and there will be time
once some things pass me by.
