Bright September Saturday
Lunch at the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre,
Craven Arms:
(Veggie lasagne and lemon and oat slice!)
Then walk out over the river Onny
– very full, heavy rushing,
so much rain in these hills recently!
Climb up, up the fields, not far –
worth the effort:
soon lovely views back over the area
with the mountain folds surrounding
west and north;
and on the top of the little ridge
view eastward to Clee Hill
and south to the Malverns.
Then steeply down with new bright views;
– watch the knees, and the uneven ground!

[I had to edit this slightly as I realised I had talked of the rain of Wales coming down the full river, but then realised this little river unlike many, does start in the Shropshire hills, not Wales!]

It sounds like you had a wonderful ramble and a yummy meal Rhiannon.. Glad you were able to avoid the showers. The views appear spectacular, especially that third one down. Imagine standing on the top and gazing all around...spectacular. and it reminded me of when I went up the Glastonbury Tor many years ago now.

It must have been a very special day out and thank you for sharing.

Thank you, Jenny. I hope you are coping in your wait. I was glad to be feeling up to this, and not far but a great little walk.. In that last picture my husband had climbed on top what seemed to be a funny earthwork on top of the ridge to get an even better view fro his camera! I like the soft valleys and hills to the west best! Rhiannon

Thanks for asking about my health Rhiannon. I'm still very much in pain and walking is becoming more and more difficult with each passing day, but the fact I'm having the hip replacement at the end of October, is what's keeping me in high spirits.

Appreciate the thought.

Thank you. Nice to be able to share. I do like 3-dimensional landscape, though walking and cycling is more difficult. But the cloudscapes can be glorious in your area I think. Rhiannon

"Climb up, up the fields" I liked that second up :0) Made me think how very steep it was, as that wonderful photo shows! I am so glad you are able to go out and about again, and we get to read your brilliant accounts

Thank you, Di. The bottom photo with my husband on top of that 'earthwork' and looking out eastwards make it look that we climbed further than we actually had to!, but it was quite steep.
