Reclaiming the Kitchen

It’s simply not possible to light candles, play Audible and cook, in manner of domestic goddess, when one’s kitchen is in a guddle. Especially when said guddle includes dust sheets, tools, drum extension cable, Mickey the mouse sander and several toxins of highly inflammable constitution.
Rain forecast all week, can’t shop; on with the kitchen DIY, so that many ways with squash may commence.
Fixed the splintered part of the door. Well, I say fixed, hack-sawed off the old nails, pinned the wood into place with new ones and some wood-filler. Pondered just buying a new strip of trim (even mid-no-spend), but it was the mid-panel the trim is nailed onto that had actually split off. I hate that kicky boy. I want to hang a sign that says, ‘Kick my door, I want to kill you’.
I won’t.
But the truth does set us free.
Wood-filler hardens in twenty minutes, stinks for hours. It does make a person feel all competent though, as mixing pea-sized amounts of white potion with golf-ball-sized blond gunk is involved. Then the clock starts ticking. I know why people order take-out when DIYing; stress-eating.
I didn’t.
Hoover lost the will to hoove just as I lost the will to sand. A sure sign the ultimate ‘S’ point is imminent, increasing risks of botch-jobbery. Executive decisions have been made; internal wee window is off the list for now. Will put up the new roller-blind once door is painted, although is looking like door’s going to need nineteen coats. Tidied redundant DIY paraphernalia away. This weekend is now split into a gentle canter of manageable painting tasks, rather than the gallop, due to weather restrictions, required for external paintwork.
Planning a lovely spend-free treat for next week, if all painting and squash-ways are completed before then.

Love your sparkly kitchen
Love your sparkly kitchen pics and very much in awe of your DIY skills - way better than mine, but I do know (from bitter experience) that if your hoover gives up after you've been sanding things, it's a sign that you must wash the filter!
