All has been documented
so I don't need to be told
that on February the First
I will be ninety years old.
It was nineteen–thirty-five
the year when I was born
and my dad was working
very hard to earn his corn.
The proceedings, it seems,
were going smoothly, but
in the middle of the night,
there was a power cut.
The plight may have been
rather difficult to handle,
Perhaps the poor midwife
went in search of a candle.
Luckily, there was no panic
and everything was alright.
An electrician was called
and he restored the light
that facilitated the delivery
of a boy, healthy and alive.
His ninetieth birthday will be
in two-thousand-twenty-five.

A memorable night for the harassed parents! Glad you are still enjoying life and working in words in your adopted language. Do you write verse in Italian? Rhiannon

90 ! What ! (?)
Luigi, Congats.......
As a reader & fan of your collections I would have never guessed.... I mean, in the sense, your poems of life & love & glimpse's, inspirations & observations of life.... I have this vision of a suave, cool, debonair Italian gentleman living in the UK wooing the ladies, captivating us readers with the mysteries of life, and last week's poem-chasing the cat in the snow & this week catching spiders, (I was going to send a Frisbee over for some Spring fun)..... Certainly 90, as most people see it, is not a reflection of life as you write with zest and passion and fun plus the smiles & laughs you bring to us here..... Again, Congrats my Man! (Respect)*
p.s.........
Umm.... One Thousand Nine Hundred Thirty Five (1935).... Thats the engine size on the new Ferrari Red Ducati motor bike... as I understood it...

Well, Kris has said it all! Many happy returns for Saturday Luigi. Maybe best not put all the candles on one cake - I did that recently for my sons who have birthdays a week apart and we set the smoke alarm off. I hope you have a wonderful day. Big party?
