SINEAD

The pink sunset looked as though an orange ice lolly had melted across it.
They held each other in the salty air.
"I'm not as thick as some people would have you believe," Sinead said.
"I know," he smiled. "After all, you did fall for me!"
She laughed; but only out of politeness.
She had a strange look on her face as she looked out at the waves.
"What's wrong?" he asked, worriedly.
Sinead couldn't bear to look at him. "I think the time has come for me to go," she said.
"It's not the answer," he told her.
She sighed, "I'm afraid it is for me."
"No, don't do it!" he yelled, as Sinead disappeared into the sea.
He knew he'd never see her again,
And he thought;
I've got to stop falling for mermaids.
