Outside Space and Time

If I could unroll space and time before me
Like a piece of film
And on each frame
A different person or a different scene,
A different time and a different place.

Ancient Rome, Victorian London,
Ancient Egypt, post-war Beirut,
A Victorian lady, a Roman soldier,
Moses, Jesus, Marilyn Monroe,
Abraham, Noah, President Kennedy,
Queen Victoria, Lady Diana.

Miners with pick axes,
Cars on a motorway,
Steam trains with open seats,
Jet propelled airliners,
Stone age man on a floating log,
Malcolm Campbell's speedboat.

Far away planets,
Each has its own history,
Each has its own stone age,
Each has its technology,
Each has its own wars,
Each has its own medicine,
Hundreds of worlds that are just like our world.

If I could be God
I would not be in space and time,
I'd see these things as if they were all simultaneous,
I would watch all things everywhere
And I would know everything.
