Little Carrie

Little Carrie's got to have a shot,
All she has she'll give for what she's got.
What she's got she knows it has not
Ever helped anyone.
It's just that she's lost the truth,
It's just that she's wasted all her youth,
It's just that taking drugs, she feels so strong.
Waiting for another high,
Waiting just to blow your mind.
Waiting for another high,
Your mother told you.
Little Carrie's got no sex appeal,
Her face is cut, her skin's starting to peel.
Night after night she's sleeping on the street,
Gets beaten up, trampled under people's feet.
The heroin kills the pain,
It makes her think that she can stand the strain,
That's why she likes it so much,
And she knows that it's wrong.
Waiting for another high,
Waiting just to blow your mind.
Waiting for another high,
Your mother told you.
Little Carrie's in a state of shock,
Spent all her money on that last rock.
Blow by blow she pesters commuters so,
Loses her temper when they tell her where to go.
She says, "Don't give me that,
I'm not an addict, what I said was a fact.
I just want to go home
And I need some money for the fare."
Waiting for another high,
Waiting just to blow your mind.
Waiting for another high,
Your mother told you.
