Not today. Two towers, silver in the sun. Thick heaving smoke. The grey flag of terror. I was watching it live when the second
Hit.
And you watch in awe. The insurmountable hatred burrows into the column.
What goes through your mind? What can you think?
I don’t remember.
I ran upstairs and told my brother the world was ending. I was 16. They were bombing America; we were next.
I remember the carpet; rough in my hands as I dug my fingers into it. That is all I remember.
I remember where I was.
