...Here’s to that evenings summer solstice
Here’s to my palpable bones beneath the lawn;
Here’s to our shy union of rigor-mortis’
Here’s to the melancholic ...Lost and forlorn.
...Here’s to the cock-calls; the incorruptible dawn!
Here’s to the black crow—that’ll carrier-pigeon my soul
Here’s to them all upon the oceans seaborne!
Here’s to their cinder path ...Cremations coal.
...Here’s to that church with its gothic-gargoyle
Here’s to those four-seasons, the sun after the rain
Here’s to the living-earth, with all its turmoil...
Here’s to my love, whence I’m not here “O Elaine’
...here’s to you; everyone, anyone, someone...,
Here’s to you my love for all the worlds caring—we’ve done!
