Words

Wordsmiths. We craft weapons just as the Ironmongers do;
We give power to the politicians and the leaders;
We give words to the peacekeepers and lawbringers.
The pen is mightier than the sword.
It is often said, and repeated over.
Our tongues of passion may yet prove to be stronger than steel and iron.
But we do we have;
If our words cease to exist?
If we cannot speak to the world,
and we cannot hold our heads high.
If our words abandon us,
Will this very world crumble?
Or will the sword break its bonds of peace,
and crash through this fragile land?
We rely on words to hide our thoughts.
Speak our minds even, just to hide our hearts.
And so we've entered the era of words.
Passion and fury clustered into a sentence.
When words fail you, you learn much.
You learn the horror of silence,
and the terrors of ignorance;
You learn the tragedies of arrogance
and the oppresion of supremacy.
So cling tight to your words.
Let them flow as a titanic river around you.
See them in the sun and the grass;
Hold them to your heart and keep them warm by you.
Because if your words fail you,
That's the day your heart will fail you...
That's the day you die.
