If It Should Come To Pass

If it should come to pass, as well it might,
that these, shall be the last words that I write,
let all the souls of earth and heaven know
that they were penned for you, for to bestow.
For I have little else of worth, to give
and even if, I yet cheat fate and live,
the only treasure trail, that you will find,
will lead you to the scribblings of my mind.
They are not priceless pearls or golden rings,
and no one, will decide them, beauteous things.
They will not hang, as diamonds, at your throat,
for all the world to see, how much I dote.
But by this simple scribe, I leave to thee,
all that I truly am, or e're will be.
And as this mortal shell, doth turn to dust,
with love, I do to you, my soul entrust.
