Neil Armstrong Moonwalker! (R.I.P.)

NASA with funds for a lunar mission
Planned carefully for an expedition
It must include a short walk on the moon
And they thought it best to explore it soon

But then for a while it was touch and go
Although stated in a manifesto
That the United States as a nation
Had indeed a lunar aspiration

On Neil’s way to the moon he zoomed passed stars
Thinking one day someone would land on Mars
But that was the future it wouldn’t be soon
His job for now was to land on the moon

A successful landing meant he could walk
And once on the moon could give a short talk
It captured the world’s imagination
Touching the people of every nation

Then there was a great deal of suspicion
That there never was an expedition
There were those that knew and were well-aware
But some see conspiracy everywhere

But once on the moon Neil worked to a plan
The words he spoke ‘One small step for man
And one giant leap for mankind’ so true
But now ‘The eagle has landed’ for you!
