What gives
as you sit, pondering
solitaire in the dark
weaving emptiness at your loom
till she fills the crook of your arm
her head a perfect jigsaw match
against your collarbone?
What knot
churning within
gnaws unrelenting
making you spin
till fiery eyes fall upon the other
and the ice round your heart
shimmers, shatters, and finally melts?
What balm
sweet, golden and oozing
as mouths crush, vacuuming breath
when palms clasp, reclaiming lost sense
You wonder at stars overhead
slot, click into paths
of unchangeable eternity

What gives as you sit,
What gives
as you sit, pondering
solitaire in the dark.. I love this line .. perfect. the rest's good too but really strong opening. This feels accomplished.
