Hey you, I just wanted to write,
I really hope you don't mind,
You're not out of mind, just out of sight,
I think about you all of the time.
I often wonder how things are,
Since the last time that we spoke,
It feels like we are so near yet far,
I hope that you got my last note.
What's the weather like these days,
Did the sun ever start to shine,
Don't listen to what the weather man says,
For things are going to be fine.
Are you free to meet for lunch one day,
It would be so nice to see you again,
I know that we'd have lots to say,
We'd laugh til they think we're insane.
Any holidays planned this year,
Last minute's always best for me,
A bargain break, no price to fear,
Maybe I'll win one for free.
I really hope that you're keeping well,
I hope we can catch up soon,
I'm sure you have lots of stories to tell,
Maybe lunch one afternoon.
Well, it seems I have to go,
There's somewhere I have to be,
No need to mail this for I know,
This letter's to myself from me :-)

Every line of this is set up
Every line of this is set up for the last stanza and it's beautifully executed. This is sweet and sad. I think we all need to make time to have a date night with ourselves from time to time. Some of the rhyming is very simple but that adds to the sweetness of it. Really liked this.
