I Hate The New Doctor Who

Even though I'm a fan of the classic Doctor Who,
I must say that I'm not a fan of the new.
I wanted and tried to like the new Doctor Who show.
But if people ask me if I love it, the answer will be no.
I grew up watching the Doctor Who classics.
Unlike the new, I thought those episodes were fantastic.
If other people love the new Doctor Who, that is fine and dandy.
But if it comes on my screen, I'll lose my TV because I keep my shotgun handy.
Please don't ask me to like the new Doctor Who or I'll puke.
When it comes to the new Doctor Who, it's something I rebuke.

Hi, randy-johnson.
Hi, randy-johnson.
For some reason I always thought you were American so I'm surprised you grew up watching the old Dr Who.
To my mind, Dr Who is the Wizard archetype, the Merlin or Gandalf of space and so it seems more natural that he be an old man. Having said that, I grew up with Peter Davidson who was a fresh faced youngster compared to the Doctors who came before him and he wasn't the worst Dr Who I've seen.
But, actors aside, I think that all modern TV has been soap-operaized. Its all about long story arcs and complex interweaving threads of different characters stories and their emmotional development etcetera.
And to be honest that seems a bit silly to me because Dr Who and Star Trek and other sci-fi franchizes were boys comic book type adventures; they were never meant to be serious drama. They were just meant to be fun.
I also think that soon they'll have the gay daleks from Victor Lewis Smiths TV offal as part of Dr Who. It wouldn't be out of place in the modern series.
Although its all about ratings isn't it? They think that by broadening the appeal of the show they'll bring in more viewers. The problem is, I think they'll end up losing all the viewers who just wanted escapist fantasy thrills and are bored by dull, plodding space romances.
