Jazz Vibes

The crisp, fresh smell of early summer nights
The stars barely twinkling on a drak blue-grey sky
The feeling I get when I close my eyes, like I could drift away on a cool breeze
All of this you mean to me, and more
Am I crying or is this just allergies?
Remember when we used to climb the school building by my house?
Back then every cigarette we smoked felt like rebellion
Remember the abandoned bowling alley?
Pouring out stolen beer as an offering to imaginary spirits
I'll never forget the night we rode that train
Or atleast thought we did
I was higher than the smoke stack we always promised we'd ascend
We were daring and naive
Virtue was our only goal
But you moved away, swearing that we'd never drift apart
And my soul withered under the weight of the world
But I'm still climbing, ever higher
Even when it feels like I'm descending into madness
And I pray you do the same
