The End is Not Nigh Enough

You have to sand a second time, once the wood filler is dry. Didn’t take very long, but still creates horrible clean-up. Painting however, all white and smooth is more enjoyable. Even though it takes four hours for the first coat to sink in and dry. In the meantime, I thought I’d sand the interior of the wee weird door and the wooden stairs leading up to it. Reclaim the kitchen from dustsheets.
The main reason I started all this wee weird door revamp is that there is a school and a nursery at the top of the very steep hill. The nursery kids love chapping wee weird door and peering in wee weird window as they think the fairy queen lives there (she does). One of the twelve to fourteen-year-old boys however, thinks something much scarier lives behind said door (she does). In his fear-based bravado, he takes running leaps and kicks poor door. Hard. Last winter, causing a piece of the door’s wood trim to completely burst off, two paintings and a clock to fall off the wall and me to call the police as I thought a shotgun had gone off.
I thought if I made poor door pretty, or even opened it for a while and he could see it’s just a kitchen – where the fairy queen lives obviously - that the kicking might stop.
We’ll see.
I repaired a small hole in the door, but even sanding the filler down, can’t get the piece of wood trim to fit back in. Can’t finish sanding, or paint, until it fits.
It’s the Cinderella door.
Kicky boy probably has lack in his life; lack of respect for people’s property, lack of ways to channel aggression, like kicking a football.
Mostly, lack of having his arse kicked.
(Metaphorically).

Kickboy definitely needs
Kickboy definitely needs something, that's for sure. Have you thought of putting a little camera outside the door? Or (much cheaper option) a sticker that says there's a camera there

There is a rascally gang here
There is a rascally gang here, too. We live at the bottom of a cliff, and at the top of the cliff, there are very old iron railings, which inventive young minds realised can be pulled out of the cross pieces to use as javelins into the gardens below. Also lumps of dry stone wall beside the pavement can be removed to construct impromptu bollards in the middle of the road. One of our neighbours got an Alsatian, which worked for them, but is rather drastic. Had you considered iron studs for your door, like in Medieval castles? Maybe, as Fairy Queen you could paint them sparkly colours :0)

these things will pass as they grow older, but then you get the younger crew that are mimics too.
