PUTTING IT ABOUT

Ring ring. Ring ring.
Are you ever answering?
Knock knock. Ding dong.
Are you gonna let me in?
"Hello? HELLO?
Is anybody home?
Come on, I know you're in there."
You are. But not alone.
You finally open the door,
All sweaty, out of breath.
You say, "I was exercising.
Weightlifting to death!"
Yes. That's right,
Of course you were.
You were weightlifting,
That's weightlifting HER.
She calls your name from upstairs.
Your face looks so uneasy;
"That's just a colleague of mine,
Who sometimes weight trains with me."
I stay cool and calm, "Does she?"
I stare right into your eyes.
You laugh nervously, "She does."
We both know you're telling lies.
You don't look too cocksure now.
Your masque's beginning to crack.
"Give me some credit," I say,
"I'm not as dumb as you act."
