THE PROZAC PEOPLE
We are stripped of our egos and our wills
One day we will be the prozac people
Unable to funtion without our last hit
Our chemically designed states of mind
Ingrained in us from our get high school days
With counsellors on hand to remind us
Of our low self-esteem; our low self-worth
Lest we start forgetting our former selves
And revert to addressing social ills
Instead of hiding behind self help books
And always thinking what we think we ought
Demoting personal ideaology to the
Collective democracy Instead of
Basing our own ethos on abstract thought
Inequalities be damned: dawb an upbeat
Gloss on all you say; stand erect and smile
Each day, and make damn sure you take the pills
