Ring, ring. Ring, ring!

The phone rang.
“Hello,” I said.
“Hello.”
No one answered.
The phone rang.
“Hello,” I said.
“Hello.”
No one answered.
I hung up.
All the lights went out...
I stood rigid to the spot.
What should I do?
Droplets of sweat started running down my face. I could feel my heart pounding.
My body shook in sheer fright.
The lights flickered briefly then they went off again.
What on earth is going on?
Where is Peter when you need him?
Again, the lights flickered on and then off again.
My body was on fire but I was frozen to the spot.
I couldn’t move.
My brain went into overdrive.
The phone rang again.
I ran and lifted the receiver and as if by magic, the room was lit up.
The vision of Peter walking towards me with a huge cake bearing 60 candles and a host of friends and family armed with candles with stay with me for the rest of my life.
Peter, however, didn’t get off scot-free as I rounded on him to never, ever do that again!!
