This wee dog, boy, she's a stunner
Fluffy, warm coat, long legs, a runner
I cannot keep up when we take a stroll
It's not that she's naughty
Just adores the outdoors

Her name is Sonny, that's exactly right
Makes the place happy, gets you through the night
Covid this and Brexit that
Stuck in the house, trying not to get fat
Reaching for a biscuit or another glass of wine
Sonny looks up at you, cocks her head, it's walkies time

Never thought l'd love a little animal this much
Every time l see her, immediately reaching out to touch
In the past l'd wonder why folk bothered with these pets
Now it's crystal clear, as tears fall, both our needs are met
