bluebells

Lush warm blue. Radiant. Rain cool bells, fresh
celestial pigment, space untempered
slipped, low, through trees - solemn grey, hushed, host
this deep cobalt jubilee. Free, each year
flame quick burns through May shadows and incense
smell flushes delight from inner dullness
as riches from sense to soul overflow
How many years will this colour feast
be spread under new fanning green of trees?
When wildness is free just to those with wealth
and hope is held inside adverts not outdoors.
Then our rights come from our buying power
and those without have no comfort, for Man
builds on the work of God and kills all those
daring to break this second hand control.
Instead he seeks manufacturing growth -
endless, pointless use of Life's resources
to make money, because the rich won't share
and money doesn't grow from trees. Time does
and it's running out

A lovely first verse! Your second verse is deliberately contrastingly bleak, I presume to contrast consumerism-living with the wealth of the peace and beauty of creation we have to enjoy. I don't think that it is that the wealthy that would have the time and inclination for seeking out beauty, but that it is something deeper that can be lost to all, wealthy or slave-worker who fill their hearts with only the financial rewards. And the greed of the ordinary masses, feeds the pressure for cheaper goods, and lower wages/longer hours probably. So we all need to take heed! I think I said something similar just now to Jane! The time is indeed running
The time is indeed running out, and still the vested interests are insisting that we need more proof and evidence, more 'studies' to see what is happening. The recent report on the loss of biodiversity was horrific. And it is the 'small' things, like bluebells, and insects, that we lose without even noticing. Thank you for this poem.

Loved that first stanza Di,
Loved that first stanza Di, it's good to aknowledge the bluebells which I hope we never loose completely.

As others have said the first
As others have said the first verse is a perfect accolade to these woodland beauties and then you use them as an example of what could be lost. The rich won't share, there is evidence of that all around us and so much of our natural resources is put to pointless use. I can't get rid of the bluebells in my borders but they are the Spanish invaders.

Great pick of the day. You've got so much into that first verse, Di. Brings the senses alive. Good point about access and people buying these wilderness places up. They want it all to themselves. Everything. And they'll get it. True also about the desecration of these places, though that might be slowing as industry departs the fix.

Trees....
... destroyed - all the life they provide - for paper money - that can't produce fruit, or help make honey, or provide homes for animals... so backwards is humanity - the ultimate selfish act - to take an animal's livelihood for selfish purposes... sigh ... Thanks for keeping up the efforts to spread awareness
