I could hear the drums beating,
Distant, lost in the dark night,
Somewhere far was the drummers' meeting,
Through the darkness I saw their fire light.
The rhythm in time,
My mouth tried to mime,
The big boom, the small bang,
The wonderful sound made my heart pang.
Along with the drums was the happy chitter-chatter,
There was laughter and cheering,
That night the noise didn't matter,
Even when dawn was nearing.
Nobody minded especially me,
Everybody listened from their windows in glee,
And so on that warm early morning in May,
The drummers continued to joyfully play.

Good effort. Well done. Is
Good effort. Well done. Is this what you meant:
"The wonderful sound made my heat pang."
or did you mean "heart pang"?

I love the play with sounds
I love the play with sounds and rhythms, “the big boom, the small bang …”
Those big deep drums “… drums beating, distant, lost …” and marching on “the rhythm in time …” small light metal drums quick and quick and trrrr trrrr trrrr with those fast fast sticks “… the happy chitter-chatter … laughter and cheering … noise didn't matter”.
The Drummers' Meeting …
“one hundred drummers whose hands were a-blazing” –Bob Dylan
Best wishes, Hope! Cheers! Tom “And so on that warm early morning in May, the drummers continued to joyfully play!”
