The Old Man's Garden

The old man stepped out of his house, into the beautiful garden he had worked hard on for at least half of his simple happy life.
He smiled up at the robin sitting on the small apple tree, the little bird loved it in the garden and would often keep the old man company as he gardened.
The old man's dog stood loyally by his side, tongue lolled out as he panted sleepily in the sun.
It was a warm summer's morning, the puddles from yesterday's rain were already gone and the sky was deep blue and cloudless.
Summer roses climbed up the house and pretty little flowers were mixed into the long green grass.
In the far corner of his garden the old man grew vegetables and herbs and had made a little pond filled with reeds and lilies.
One of his favorite things was the large beauteous lilac bush, he looked after it as if it was his child.
His house was also admirable; stone walls with dark wooden window frames with red shutters that matched the little arched door.
The old slate roof gave it a look of peace and perfection.
Oh how he loved where he lived, no main roads, no noisy neighbors... Just him, the dog, the robin and the other animals in his garden.
The old man looked down at his dog "Come on, let's go for a walk!"
So him and his dog walked out of the iron gate, into the cool shady woods, enjoying the soft breeze and the gentle sound of bird song.
