Imagine if we Didn't Feel Pain

Imagine if we felt no pain
No stinging thorn to dock us
To the margins of our term
Or cuspate pin to hold us
Down upon this sober ground
We’d be nothing more than glitter
Space dust drifting through time
Imagine if we didn’t suffer
The scalding burns of defeat
Nor the cauterizing irons of failure
Or numb blot shame which follows
Our hearts would tick only to exist
As frigid bodies, cold as Neptune
Obscure as its darkest spots
Imagine if we bore no wounds
Our shells unmarked by trials
Without relief on which our loved
Ones grip and feel secure
Too slippery for bonds to form
Remote and unscarred as Europa
Merely orbiting among latent friends
Imagine if we didn’t weaken
Under the grind of being
Never floundering or failing
Lofty in our own perfection
Riding our high horses to where
The air is thin and the sun so bright
We are blinded, baking in our own glory
Imagine if we felt no grief
No closing walls of despair
Which crush us down, down flat
And black as shadows of ourselves
We couldn’t divide the darkness
Comfortable in a our black hole
And we’d never see the light

I like this very much. If we
I like this very much. If we didn't feel any pain, or emotion and thought ourselves always right and never wrong, then we'd be Donald Trump.

Lack of physical pain
Lack of physical pain sensation is so dangerous – as seen in the injuries that occurred because of leprosy.
You seem to be highlighting the robot-likeness of life without emotions and social empathies, and the chastening and moulding effect of hardships and awareness of our failings.
It brought to my mind the reason God removed his 'perfection of blessing' when Adam and Eve sinned, rebelled – complacency in a perfect world would not encourage mankind to seek forgiveness and to be made so they could enjoy once more a perfect world when it is made so (without pride!).
