My Cat (deceased)

My cat (deceased) visited me
Last night in my dream
Had something to tell me,
Something to say
From her floating platform
Far away
But still she has no voice
No grasp of English
Even in dreams
So she could only
Blink her eyes in a deliberate
And slightly angry way
I am unmoved but worried
What has she come for,
Come here to say?
To tell me I’m done for
Dying or on the edge
Of some stiff misfortune
In silence her blinks
Unnerve me, fill me with dread
She has the upper hand
But then I remember
She doesn’t know she’s dead
Tis me with the upper hand
I smirk, blink back
‘You’re dead,’ I think
Adding another, knowing blink
I sense she knows more
Perched and untouchable
On her phantom floor
She fades and floats away
If she spoke I never heard
I wake defeated, unnerved

You capture the unnerving and
You capture the unnerving and the feline mannerisms so well. I enjoyed that you knew it was a dream, so anything was possible.
