Stars on Fire
Jennifer Pickup 22.12.2022
Tonight, the stars are on fire,
The sky is alight with their heat,
I feel the glare upon my face,
As love crushes me with defeat.
I had held my heart together
Through overwhelming loss and grief,
But life’s timing has filled me up
With misery and disbelief.
I knew that Heaven was calling
And that your time was drawing near…
There is no way to be ready
For living life without those dear.
Just the one I could have handled,
The second loss was far too hard,
Number three nearly ended me,
The Autumn months forever marred.
Tonight, the stars are burning up,
The night aglow with energy,
I raise my eyes to blazing skies,
Implore you all to wait for me.

-totally relate-
It's a gift to express love & loss & time so simply & vividly as you have done here....
Relate as in; we lost a few over the past few years, including my wife's father recently....
For me, trying to express it; is heavy, weighted, seemingly parallelizing at times... But, what you have written here is <therapy for the soul>...... Thank you Jennifer.... (cheery's4sure-but i'm sending a star)*

I'm so sorry. The stars are always a comfort, they have a shape and purpose. And you have made them very bright.
