“Can we stay up late?”
“No, get to bed,he’s coming.”
“Will it snow mum?”
“Wait and see, it might.”
Tucked up tight, all warm
Kissed goodnight, door closed.
Me and sister, six years old
Can’t sleep, too excited.
“Has he been yet?”
We both look, not yet.
Hours pass, still no sign
Then eyes fade and we fall.
We wake, not yet light outside
We look and shout “ He’s been.”
Pillow cases full, bulging
At the bottom of the bed
Nuts, fruit, sweets, then
The toy, the one toy
We’ve both got our dreams.

Really enjoyed this piece. Kids are the reason for the season. I think that maybe, we sometimes forget that...Wes

The adults dreams... pity
The adults dreams... pity there are no pillow cases for those... **sigh**... loved those childhood days, even though they were admittedly taken for granted in frustration at the time... like: Are we there yet??? Huh huh huh??? Are we there yet ;-)
j, have a truly wondrously magical 2013

Hello Jolono, sorry I'm late to this one, but I haven't been around for a little while - boring uni stuff etc ;-) But this has a fabulous rhythm and really captures that childhood essence! Oh and Happy New Year to you!
