I once thought U were uber-cool,
What a div I was – a total tool.
I see U now for what U are,
A quack, a fake a travelling char…
…latan I saw too late.
U were a line that wasn’t straight,
Not like the em dash or the hyphen,
U'r bent and curvy like a python.
A snake I would not choose to trust,
Though the pedant in me says I must,
For without U all those ancient gods,
Would have lived up in the clods,
and we’d be buried in white shrods.
So I’ll accept U as a letter,
Til I can think of something better.

Anyone who’s reading this,
May wonder at my prejudice.
They’d ask, why do you hate this U,
It’s not done anything to you,
Yes, it’s different from the other letters,
But difference is what makes us better.
They’d say I’m far too elemental,
I should evolve and be more gentle.
