This imperative.
Change your path
Change your mind
Leave your doubts and fears behind
Start again, start anew
Do everything you wanted to
Erase each tortured shadow-play
Illuminate a brighter day
Don’t change yourself, just change the world
See glorious futures now unfurled.
Easier said than done. We lie
Emotionless beneath a sky
That rains in pity on our good intentions.
All we strived for, all we dreamed is visible
We hang our heads in shame for having hoped.
Smeared with ashes-
Reminds me of days when we
Changed our paths
Changed our minds
Lost our faith in humankind
Played with fire, grew new names
Sick sadistic battle-games
Bled our souls into our hands
Kissed with hate at no-man’s-land
‘Til beauty was a malady
And subtle sinning made us free.
Easier done than said. We run
Away from hateful things we’ve done
Down roads that snake into the sea
We reignite bright harmony
Never tiring, never feel dismay.
I know now for sure there will
Be years ahead of us where we
Change our paths
Change our minds
Leave our old ideas behind
Be born again, refresh, renew
And live the way we wanted to.
Draw strength from dreams, grow wise from love
Make shapes from drifting clouds above
Not changing us, just change our lives
Because now, we personify
This imperative.
