Alone

Her footsteps never overshadowed
She burdens everyone she meets
Words stumbling into strangers
Sentiment spilling onto streets
Soothed by harsh retort
Untouched by cutting mock
She clasps her letter tighter
As understanding
Thwarts her rock
Another chance to liberate
The shackles of seclusion
Through deafening isolation
To post her self-delusion
Freedom stolen for a moment
From the prisons of her kind
Solitude and loneliness
Corroding peace of mind
Branded by the many
Sightless to her way
She flees to human contact
With the envelope each day
A frail and wounded outline
Seeking solace, passes by
Their, diverted for a moment
Though deafened to her cry
A little closer to her secret
It's plain for all to see
The eyes hush countless
Tempests of emotion
But not her written plea
The envelope's as empty
As her arms have ever been
A self-addressed distraction
To an ever present dream
