Elusive

Gazing the elusive
No form-distorting eye
Past obscuring curl of cloud
Beyond divinity or sky
Looking out into the centre
Of understanding why
Through everyday
Life's fickle sway
Lay's mortal alibi
There's no majestic motive
No reverence to bring
A lack of justly conquest
No harmony to sing
No word or inclination
I absently inhale
A fraction of humanity
Born to this entail
Like sand upon a shoreline
There are many just like me
Reckoning their massing
In search elusively
Perhaps there is no answer
None we can define
Dormant to our senses
Masked in dusts of time
Would knowing ever falter
The footsteps that we take
Ease this brief existence
Gild the choices that we make
Heedless to foundations
We glide on fragile wing
Ever cautious of elusive
And the outcome it may bring
