Unsurpassed

Remnants of a picket gate
Hamper our way
A tangling of fruit trees
Pleads attention
Appending, once loved to the
Sacraments of a pitiless past
Weeping cherry and ivy clasp
To this antique structure
Entwining desolation
Lending grace to abandon
A human sanctuary
Tended, only by time
In the hallway, Belladonna
Charismatically haemorrhages
From lesion of inorganic swathe
We gaze, to Nature's patent
As she reaffirms the definitive
A scene replicated
A thousand times over
Recaptures the soul
As exceeding clouds
Sweep the acres of blue
To sunlight's command
Attentions are paid
As piercing company
Greets the eye
Elemental forces compete
To the surrounding silence
Of a lifetime of doubts
Consumed by a heady ambition
Previously remote
Distanced by faith and dream
Briar inextricably penetrates
This mouldering carcass
Engaging reality
With a spicular chide
Fabric flays shard
Tempering suntraps remnant
Echoing the desperations
Of curbed wing
Vaporous undertone
Seeps from pinpricked oak
Suggestive of lives once lived
And memories absorbed
Before, prospect revived each
Verdant blade trodden
On this, desolate ground
Now, paths are carved
Time is stirred
Visions are unsurpassed
