The Old Photo

I found this photo
in an old identity card.
Black and white
and rather faded,
it is a portrait
of my younger self.
It isn't very hard
to remember that youth,
a boy extremely shy
who would blush
if a girl smiled at him
and said “Hi”.
Afraid he'd be left
on the shelf
and be celibate
for years on end
if he didn't have
the gumption
to spring into action
and find a girlfriend.
It was a godsend
when he met one,
and another and more.
Yet he did not realise
what was in store:
a lass, very shrewd,
cast a spell
and marriage ensued.
Not much else to tell,
he's glad to have become
a dad and granddad.

A nice little black and white tale, how time flies by.

Hi Luigi,
Hi Luigi,
what a wonderful poem and snap of your younger self. You look like a famous actor from the 1960s, but I can't think who! Still very handsome.
