Kitten School

It's where the little kittens go,
to learn to be a cat.
The teacher wears his mortar board
and his whiskers brushed right back.
An old grey cat, the teacher is,
wise in the ways of Cat.
The little kittens jostle and play
'till the teacher calls them back.
"Now listen 'ere," he tells them,
"this 'ere h'is a mouse.
You finds 'em and you takes 'em
right back to your 'ouse.
Don't worry h'if your owner screams
an' takes off at a run.
That's just their way of saying thanks
and joinin' in the fun!"
He points at the board for emphasis
using his long, striped tail.
The kittens squiggle, squirm and giggle,
some begin to wail.
"Now spiders, you 'ave to h'eat 'em,
but leaves and twigs you keep.
Now come on class; recite wiv me..."
But the kittens are fast asleep!
