Six of the Best

Thwack! (1)
God’s judgement on those who pretend to be Christians but who aren’t really born again. Over the last 60 years an awful lot of dead churches have closed down and some evangelical congregations have become very much smaller but a lot more enthusiastic. Many of the people who were only there because their parents wanted them to be have gone away and have not been missed.
Thwack! (2)
God’s judgement on people who love the world and the things in the world. The pull of your career, marriage, money and nice holidays will become so strong that you will never darken the door of a church again. Be warned – even if you have been genuinely born again your salvation is at risk if you harden your heart too much.
Thwack! (3)
God’s judgement on those who love old buildings. They cost far too much money when they were built and they are costing millions to repair now, while millions of people around the world are starving. More and more of them will be made into blocks of flats and supermarkets.
Thwack! (4)
God’s judgement on Christians who hate their brothers and sisters. Gossips, the fiercely argumentative and those who love forcing people to do things. One day you will get so angry with the people in your local fellowship you will never return.
Thwack! (5)
God’s judgement on those who believe in denominations, those who will only allow Methodists or Catholics into their church. Soon they will find that there are not enough Methodists or Catholics, Baptists, Brethren or Church of England and they will have no one sitting in their pews.
Thwack! (6)
God’s judgement on those who quench the Spirit. To those who don’t believe that God can do miracles today, the world around you will become so dark it will be a miracle when somebody comes to Christ. So those of you who don’t believe that God can do miracles, or that they could only happen to the apostles and stopped thirty years after Christ ascended to Heaven, prepare to close.
I would ask you not to cry out to God against this. If you cry out, the divine headmaster will give you six of the best again. It is in his interests to create a small remnant of students, who will get good A’ level grades for subjects like Brotherly Love, Holiness, Prayer and Discipleship and will go to Revival University. Some of them will do some research at Revival University, become teachers, and stay there for a long time.
