Christmas Morning at High Cross Farm
Nucleic light from beyond the zenith
Scythes a glowing fissure across the dawning sky
As the farmer plants his rubber footfalls in the snow;
A breath from the cosmos
Marries him to the earth and to infinity.
A deity of the dawn, a nomad of the snowfields,
His strong, gentle hands lift a fallen lamb
And set it back on nature's frozen playground,
As fragile as his infant daughter
Smiling with Yorkshire delight
At the lighted Christmas tree
In the ember-cheerful sitting-room.

Some wonderful imagery her, mark. Some of my favourite lines:-
"A breath from the cosmos
Marries him to the earth and to infinity.
A deity of the dawn, a nomad of the snowfields..."
Much enjoyed.
