I'm not gonna cry for me

One day I'm gonna wake up dead.
This twisted heart, refuse to start.
And I'm not gonna cry for me...
This bitter sole, that played it's role
And wasted in the oblivion of abuse.
Someday I'm gonna turn my head
See my life behind, death warrant signed.
And I'm not gonna cry for me
This senseless head that wished me dead
As I wallowed in the luxury of abuse.
So who is gonna cry for me?
The birds and trees? The land and sea?
Don't waste your tears for where they fall.
A thistle grows in memory of a fool.
So who is gonna cry for me?
Will Jesus weep as Father sets me free?
Don't cry for me Lord - sob for the living
For they need all the sympathy you're giving.
One day I'm gonna breathe my last.
This weary face will feel the pace.
And I'm not gonna cry for me
This ruptured pride that upped and died
And lingered in the decadence and abuse.
Someday I'm gonna cease to be
This finished fool who lost the call.
And I'm not gonna cry for me
This foolish child, who rarely smiled
As I drowned in the excesses and abuse.
So who is gonna cry for me?
The sun and rain? The hills and plain?
Don't waste your tears for where they lie
The rats and snakes all come to die.
So who is gonna cry for me?
Will Satan's bloody tears my coffin stain?
Don't cry for me Nick, cry for those on Earth
For they're the ones who still regret their birth.

The voice comes over loud and
The voice comes over loud and clear and the passion is unmistakable. It's a cry of defiance, a call for help from someone who doesn't feel they deserve it, a warning and an elegy for the self. Powerful stuff.
Now I'm going to put the pedant's hat on and say - did you mean sole or soul? Play on words or typo? Couldn't decide. And yes, I'm mean spirited enough to point out that in the same line 'it's' should be 'its'. Grammar in the soul. It's a terrible condition.
Thanks for posting this. It really is a great read.

If there's one thing poetry's
If there's one thing poetry's good for it's the cathartic release of anger with oneself and its ability to encourage the self when times are hard. Actually that's two things poetry's good for...so it's even better than I thought.
